About Briargrove

Counselor Angela Blocker

Welcome!

Hello, my name is Angela Blocker and I started Briargrove Family Counseling Center to provide excellent relational, trauma-informed, and culturally humble counseling services to individuals, families, and couples. We are relational by nature and many of our biggest hurts happen in relationships. Sometimes, the people we love the most cause us the deepest pain. Other times, we wonder why we can’t seem to make lasting changes in ourselves. It can be challenging navigating through it objectively. I work alongside individuals, couples, and families to help bring healing to tough situations and to help produce life-giving meaningful change.

I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Texas. I have extensive specialized training in working with couples and families from my work at Fuller Life Family Therapy Institute. Certified in Prepare/Enrich I work with couples in every stage of development. With a specialty in family trauma, I help families work through difficult events and move toward healing. While serving as a therapist with Communities in Schools, I provided counseling support to middle and early college high school students in the Houston, Spring Branch, & Aldine Independent school districts. I use Bowen Family Systems theory, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, and principles from researcher John Gottman as modalities.

I graduated with a B.A. in Intercultural Ministries Interdisciplinary from Moody Bible Institute and a M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Wheaton College in Illinois.

Houston is where I call home. I love spending time with my family and my dog. I enjoy long-distance running and relaxing with a good book.
