How to Get Past “Coping”

As the year moves forward, many of us are feeling the weight of the stress in our lives. It often feels like we are just getting by and we somehow manage to cope. What if we could move from just survivng our circumstances to really thriving in our lives? Dr. Laurie Santos is a professor of psychology at Yale University. She has been studying happiness for years in what she calls her happiness lab. In one video, she shares her favorite coping strategies! I’ve listed them for you below!

  1. Exercise

  2. Sleep

  3. Be With Emotions- Practicing RAIN Technique from Tara Brach

  4. Get Social

  5. Daily Gratitude Practice

The last one is one of my favorite coping strategies: GRATITUDE! A written daily gratitude practice helps improve our mood and well-being in a little over two weeks. Remember we are all in this together! For more information about gratitude, see our next post!
